Spiced White Hot Chocolate

Number of Servings: 4

Where my white chocolate lovers at? This lightly spiced white hot chocolate is tasty and will keep you toasty (more so if you add your favorite off-the-recipe dark spirit or liqueur). This white hot chocolate recipe is simple but full of flavor. Sort of like eggnog without the eggy part. It’s nutmeg-y, cinnamon-y, vanilla-y and, most importantly, white chocolate-y. It’s a nice, bright change-up to all this rich, dark chocolate and cocoa. No standard milk in this one, but a bunch of half-and-half. And technically, the whipped cream on top is optional, but c’mon, it’s a signature topper for this white-hot treat. And like freckles on a redhead, a little sprinkled cinnamon makes this one cute enough for a party for sure.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups half-and-half
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Optional Toppings:
  • Whipped cream
  • Ground cinnamon

Directions

Combine the half-and-half, chocolate chips, nutmeg and cinnamon stick in a medium saucepan. Whisk over medium-low heat until the chocolate chips are melted and the mixture is hot but not boiling.

Remove from the heat and pull out the cinnamon stick. Stir in the vanilla and whisk well. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired.
