PB & Banana Warmer

Number of Servings: 4

Our creamy, classic peanut butter banana combo is another treat with no caffeine or added sugar. But there are plenty of added nutrients thanks to the 3 cups (for 4 servings) of fat-free, 2% or whole milk. It also features peanut butter and mashed bananas (of course), a skosh of vanilla and cinnamon, it even has colored sprinkles and marshmallow snowman stirrers. Plus, it tastes so good, the kids will be good all day long… probably... maybe.

It makes a great reward for parents, too. Give one to Dad for shoveling the driveway. One to Mom for starting the taxes early. This peanut butter and banana warmer provides a wonderful incentive to get stuff done. It does take a fair number of steps to pull off (there’s an immersion blender involved), but after you do it that first time, it’ll be a breeze. And if you like peanut butter and banana, it’s so worth it.

Ingredients

  • Snowmen Stirrers (optional)
  • 3 cups milk (fat-free, 2% or whole)
  • 2 medium very ripe bananas, peeled and mashed (about 1 cup total)
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
Optional Toppings:
  • Whipped cream
  • Multi-colored sprinkles

Directions

In medium saucepan combine milk, bananas, peanut butter and cinnamon. Cook, stirring frequently, over medium heat until peanut butter melts and mixture is hot. Do not boil.

Remove from heat. Whisk in vanilla. Use immersion blender to puree any remaining banana pieces and to froth mixture. (Or, pour mixture, half at a time, into blender container or food processor. Cover and process until smooth.) Pour into four 10- to 12-ounce mugs. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles, if desired. Serve with Snowmen Stirrers, if desired.

Snowmen Stirrers

For each stirrer, push 1 large marshmallow onto a drinking straw. Use peanut butter to attach candy eyes and pipe mouth onto marshmallow. For each hat, attach a dark chocolate pastille or confectioner’s coating candy melt to a thin and crispy chocolate sandwich cookie with peanut butter. Pipe additional peanut butter on top of candy. Attach hat to marshmallow face with peanut butter.
